Here's a blog I just started.
This web page was a final project for my Internet Fundamentals class in 2002. I was a student at Southeast Technical Institute, in Sioux Falls, South Dakoooooooooota. (Yessiree there, you see I can talk that Southdakoooooetan, after only being a resident there for two and a half years). I finished school, receiving an A.A. degree in graphic communications,(with an emphasis in Web Design), in May of 2003.

I'm going to tell you a little about me, here on this page. I will show you some pictures here, and on other pages. I've also made some pages to tell you about Joslin, who waits for us in heaven, and the rest of my family.

I, Jo, was born and raised in northwest Iowa.
I've done quite a few things in my life...

As a child while still living at home near Melvin, IA, I helped out on our farm where we had chickens, farmed 170 acres and raised German Shepherds and poodles. Later, I walked beans, detassled corn, baby sat local children, and I was our church janitor for several years.
Since high school I've tried my hand at the following jobs,(in order):

1.Helped farm, and milk cows from 1974 to 1984.
2.Ran a photography studio for 14 years,(1979 to 1993), specializing in senior portraits and weddings.
3.Was our church secretary for 4 years.
4.Worked as a desk clerk at a Super 8 Motel.
5.Drove dump truck to haul the middle school's old gym out to the landfill by Sheldon.
    6. Was a substitute school bus driver for the Sibley-Ocheyedan school district and only hit one mailbox.
7.Drove semi-truck long distance with my husband, delivering live chickens which were just ready to start laying eggs.
8.Was a fabric puller at a furniture factory.
9.Was co-manager at a chicken complex where we received 270,000 day old baby chicks, three times a year.
10.Was full time care giver to my daughter, Joslin, during the two years and three months that she had cancer.
11.Hauled campers,(with Joslin's cat Marge),from the factories in Indiana to various places in the U.S. (Traveling 25,000 miles in 2 months).
12.Became a full time student for graphic communications, with an emphasis in web design.
13.Sold fireworks for a summer job at BlackJack Fireworks, near Brandon.
14.I worked part-time as a cashier at a local Shopko store in Sioux Falls.
15.In July of 2003 Darwin and I moved to our place at Arnolds Park, IA, and in January, 2004 we moved to Milford, Iowa. There, we work together in our home office, managing our freight brokerage company...

Here I am, many years ago, with my husband Darwin. We were married in 1974.

We married and lived in Northwest Iowa all ours lives, until recently, when we moved to Brandon, South Dakota, for 3 years. Now we are back in Iowa again, as of July 2003.

We have had three children, Jessica, Joslin and Lew.

Here, and on several of the other web pages, I will share a bit more myself and my family. Along the way, I hope you get to know a little more about me, and our family.

The picture above was taken about 12 years after we were married.
We both have a bit less hair.
This picture was taken on December 23, 2000,
when we renewed our wedding vows.
It was a special day as we thought back over the years
and looked ahead to a new chapter of our lives together.
This picture was taken on August 30, 2003, at our son's wedding at Village East at Okoboji, Iowa. It was a beautiful day and we made wonderful memories. We lit a candle in honor of Joslin and others not with us, and wore angel pins to remind us that this life is not all there is. Look at Lew's page for more wedding pictures.
Jo and Darwin, picture taken in December, 2004... Here we are 4 years after renewing our wedding vows to each other and we so thankful for our "second" marriage. It is good.
Sept. 2005... still in love after 33 + years of knowing each other.
March 2006... a fun reminder of a special time in Branson, MO.
